Terms of Service

The service

Legal5 is a platform that connects users with independent Nigerian lawyers for consultations by chat, voice or video. Legal5 is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Any advice you receive comes from the lawyer you consult, who is solely responsible for it. Legal entity name and registered address: [PLACEHOLDER — to be confirmed].

Accounts

  • You must be 18 or older and provide accurate details.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password safe.
  • Lawyers must be qualified to practise in Nigeria and must pass our verification before accepting consultations.

Consultations

Each lawyer sets their own availability and scope of work. A consultation creates a relationship between you and that lawyer, not with Legal5. Nothing on the platform guarantees a particular legal outcome.

Fees and payments

  • Fees are shown in Naira on the lawyer's profile before you book.
  • Payment is made in the app and held until the consultation is completed.
  • Legal5 retains a service fee from each completed consultation.
  • Receipts are available in your account.

Cancellations and refunds

If a consultation is not delivered, the held funds are returned to you. Disputes must be raised from inside the app and are reviewed by our support team, whose decision on the release or return of held funds is final.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use Legal5 for unlawful purposes or to harass any person.
  • Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent your qualifications.
  • Do not attempt to take consultations or payments off the platform.
  • Do not interfere with the security or operation of the service.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legal5 is not liable for the advice, acts or omissions of any lawyer on the platform, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid through the platform in the three months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
